Edge of Empire is a 3D Docu-Drama that captures the realities of Roman Life back in 200 AD when the Roman Empire ruled Britain. Narrated by the actor Brian Cox the story follows Aquilla – a young Roman soldier stationed on Hadrian’s Wall the Empire’s most Northerly frontier.
Filmed in native Stereoscopic 3D, Edge of Empire uses CGI reconstructions to take the viewer back in time to Northern England during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. In addition to the film’s drama scenes Steven helmed several aerial shoots that provide the spectacular aerial perspectives seen throughout the film.
The film fuses both fact and fiction – rich enough in content to satisfy the most passionate history buffs yet still accessible to younger generations. Work on the project was extensive and included a yearlong collaboration with the Vindolanda Trust who acted as historical advisors throughout. The film can be seen exclusively at the Roman Army Museum on Hadrian’s Wall.
